Ooi Chin Keat was educated at Ealing University. He passed his professional accountancy examination, gained second place and was awarded a scholarship prize. He lives in Ilford, Essex.
He is the author of My Way 10,545 km to Green Grass England’, a work of non-fiction first published in 2000. My Way 10545 km to Green Grass England is the author’s incredible story of how he made his way independently across Asia and Europe, travelling through India, Pakistan, Turkey, Greece, Italy and France, with limited resources during the 1950s. He finally reached the green grass of England after swimming the Channel and successfully completing The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Ooi Chin Keat has undoubtedly encountered the most exotic and dangerous of places, and the most kind and generous of people as well as the greedy and the cruel. Life is a journey and Ooi Chin Keat’s journey makes for a fascinating story of courage, determination and humanity. His resilience and adaptability should be an inspiration to us all.
